Biography

Artist of eclectic training and activity, musicologist and interpreter dedicated to medieval repertoire. He is a disciple of tenor Josep Benet and has studied philosophy and organology. He is currently finishing his doctoral thesis supervised by Dr. Maricarmen Gómez Muntaner and Dr. Manuel Castiñeiras. His performances combine musical practice with scenographies that recreate dreamlike spaces of reflection and sentiment. He has been an associate professor in the Department of Art and Musicology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and is the author of specialized publications and recordings of medieval repertoire for the Trob'art label.

Since 2015, he has been directing the European project Awakening Sleeping Instruments, which involves the construction of replicas of the musical instruments of the Portalada de Ripoll. This initiative includes large-scale concerts featuring the music from Ripoll's Scriptorium, which are represented throughout the UNESCO candidacy process for the Portalada de Ripoll and have received funding from the Creative Europe program of the European Union and various Catalan administrations.

He has been commissioned by the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya to create and direct the Lost City festival at the Heritage Site of Olèrdola, and since 2017, a program for the construction of instruments and musical interpretation at the monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes. One of his large-scale artistic actions is Oliba episcopus, a creation for the Bishopric of Vic consisting of various shows commemorating the millennium of Bishop Oliba in cathedrals and emblematic monasteries of Catalonia.

His work with the recreation of the musical instruments of the Portalada de Ripoll has received the Prestigia National Craftsmanship Award 2020, granted by the Generalitat de Catalunya.
