Biography

Carla del Valle Lafuente (Barcelona, ​​1988) has a degree in Art History from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2007-2011) and completed a Master's degree in Education and Museums linked to the University of Murcia (2014-2015). She combined her university studies with work as a guide for the Romanesque churches of the Aran Valley in 2009 and as an intern at the Department of Romanesque Art at the National Art Museum of Catalonia (2010-2011).

She has worked for the Encyclopedia of Romanesque Art (Fundación Santa María la Real) since 2011, with the task of documenting the Romanesque monumental complexes of the Aran Valley, within the volumes of the province of Lleida, which will be published at the end of 2025. Within the Aranese territory, she has also been part of the work group of the Comminges workshop (can. 1300), preparing part of its corpus; she has carried out several documentary casting campaigns; and has carried out dissemination actions, especially for medieval teachers and workshops.

At the same time, she has trained and developed professionally in the field of museography and heritage teaching. Firstly, in the private sector, as assistant director of the Barbié Gallery in Barcelona (2013-2016), where she coordinated five temporary exhibitions with their corresponding catalogues. Since 2017, he has worked in the public administration, directing the Musèus dera Valle de Arán, a network of seven museums that depend on the Conselh Generáis de Aran. These museums also carry out actions to promote heritage, especially in Romanesque churches and other monuments in Aran. During these years, he has coordinated the exhibition Aran me Fecit. Des mèstres constructors ara recèrca deth patrimoni sacre, at the church of Sant Joan de Arties, as well as coordinating a publication of the same name and organizing a series of dissemination sessions on this topic.

In line with her research and professional career, she is working on a thesis entitled “A Romanesque between borders: spaces, images and power in the Aran Valley (11th-13th centuries)”. In general terms, it would cover a chronological proposal of the preserved assets, the characteristics and stylistic influences, as well as the context of creation and the agents of artistic production (artists, clients and public).
