Colantuono Santoro, Maria Incoronata

Biography

Maria Incoronata Colantuono is Associate Professor of Medieval Music and Medieval Notations at the Department of Art and Musicology of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and member of the Institute of Medieval Studies (UAB). She completed a Degree in Musicology at the Università degli Studi di Pavia (1994), homologation Degree in History and Science of Music (2007), a Degree in Palaeography and y Musical Philology at the Università degli Studi di Pavia (2001), a Master in Theory of Literature and Comparative Literature (2005). She is Ph. D cum laude and mention “European Doctor” in Theory of Literature and Comparative Literature at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2012).

Her researches focus on the study of Music, Liturgy and Literature in the Middle Ages. The most recent publications contain researches on the liturgical-musical manuscripts of the Biblioteca de Catalunya, the Franciscan liturgical-musical repertoire and poetic-musical composition systems of the Cantigas de Santa Maria.

The results of her research have been presented at international Conferences and Congresses and have been published in books and academic journals. Member of the Scientific Committee of the I Symposium on Franciscanism held in Barcelona in 2018 and collaborator of numerous Musicology and Literature journals in Spain and Brazil.

Collaborator of the AISGRE (Associazione Internazionale di studi di Canto Gregoriano) as a Professor of Seminars on medieval devocional chant. Maria Incoronata Colantuono is also part of the GRUP DE RECERCA (GdR) MAGISTRI CATALONIAE, of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, in association with the Departament d’Art i Musicologia (UAB).
